30 Days of Thanksgiving – Week 1; Thankful For Good Health
30 Days of Thanksgiving
Week 1; Thankful For Good Health
One of the “few good things” to come out of the Covid Pandemic has been that people seem have a greater appreciation for their health. Many of us have come to realize good health is one of most important things in our lives because it directly effects all other areas of life including: our relationships, ability to work, ability to be active and simply our ability to experience life…. and having a strong immune system.
The reality is that most of us typically take our health for granted, that is, until we lose some aspect of our health and it impacts our quality of life.
To get a better understanding of what good health actually is, let’s look at the World Health Organization’s definition of health.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
What I really like about this definition is that it helps us understand that Health is comprehensive and that it is more than just being pain free or not having symptoms.
For me personally, I am thankful for having good health because it has allowed me the ability to adjust thousands of patients over the past 30 years, to be able to have a healthy immune system and to have an active lifestyle, including doing an Ironman at age 51.
Another thing that helps me appreciate my own good health is having worked with thousands of patients many of whom have permanently lost some quality of life due to their poor health.
The other point we want to make in this article is that long term good health does not happen by accident.
The 5 Keys to good health include:
- Proper Sleep
- Good Nutrition/Supplements
- Positive Attitude
- Regular Exercise and
- Wellness Chiropractic Adjustments (I personally have been getting adjusted 1-2 times per week for the past 30 years)
So, I hope that this week you will take a few minutes every day to be Thankful for Good Health.
Here are some examples of Good Health activities to be thankful for: great night sleep, being able to get on and off the toilet by yourself, hiking up to the top of a hill or mountain to see a beautiful view, getting on the floor and playing with a child, going for a bike ride, being able to travel and see the world, work at a job, give hugs, be intimate with a partner, dance to fun music….you get the point.
Enjoy and be Thankful
